You're Gonna Learn Today

For the month of August, I've created a few goals for my blog.  I've been trying to make it a priority for quite some time, but I haven't felt like I've had the time or really the content to do so.  Well, as I've been making a lot of changes and my life and been really living, things on the blog have changed as well and it has gotten a lot easier to write and a LOT more fun to read other blogs and promote the heck out of them.
PS--Have you checked out all the lovely ladies on my sidebar? So fun to read...If you're looking for something new to add to your list, they. are. it.
*******
Let's face it, you hate to hear me talk about what I wrote on the blog, but then later, you find yourself reading it on Facebook.  You like it.  I know you do.  My friends here at Knox make fun of me for the blog all the time, but guess what? They read it.
I figure that most people just don't know how to be friends with a blogger. Well, in the words of Kevin Hart, you're gonna learn today.
1//  Understand that bloggers are a strange breed.
We take a lot of pictures of things like food, outfits, random shit neatly arranged on a table to make us look extra cool...Let's not forget the #selfies...
Sometimes we do things simply because  it would make a great post.   If you can understand that we're just odd people who like to document all aspects of life you can get along with us just fine.
2//Telling us that you read our posts and that you liked it is great, but what we really want you to do, is share it with your friends.
Nothing makes our hearts go pitter-pat like getting shares/likes from the people that we actually know and their friends.
3// Try really hard not to roll your eyes when we say "Today on my blog..." for the tenth time.
Our blogs are a huge part of our lives.  It's something that is exciting to us.  It's the same as you talking about whatever you love to do, except for us, this is something that we created.  It's our baby and we nurture it.
4// Don't make fun
My blog is the place I go to express myself.  I write here to tell you what I'm thinking, how I'm doing, and to attempt to entertain an audience at the same time.  It means something to me.  I'm sorry if you think it's stupid, but I don't.  I've always wanted to be a writer, and now I am one.  Try not to mock the avenue I chose to live a dream.
5// Just read.
Let's face it, sometimes what we write isn't great.  But sometimes it is.  We love to write and we pour our hearts and souls into this vast space that is the internet.  Give it a read.  I promise you won't regret it.
Stay tuned for next time with...
How to be a good blogging friend!

I love this post. It's so true! Sometimes my non-blogger friends don't get me, but I can always count on fellow bloggers to make me feel less weird and sometimes even a bit cool!

This is great! I'm horrible in that I don't really broadcast my blog to my friends for some of these very reasons, but maybe I should and then share your post with them so they understand :)

I remember being so nervous the first time I shared my blog with my friends and family! I definitely agree with #4 we put a lot of work into our posts so to have them made fun of is pretty devastating

I absolutely love this post! I don't talk to many of my real life friends about my blog but this is something I would want them to read.

"Try not to mock the avenue I chose to live a dream." I love this! Sometimes it feels like blog writing isn't "real" writing, and I get surprised when I see a blog post referred to as an "article". But really...it's words and sentences put together into paragraphs, so writing it is!

i never tell anyone about my blog; i don't post about it on facebook or post up my blog on twitter because i'm afraid that someone i actually know will want to talk to me about it. when they do, i feel so strange and change the topic!
