For me, being a member of the United States Armed Forces, is very important to me. It's something that I've always wanted to do but I figured I was too small. I thought I was too weak. I figured that it was a pipe dream that could never be a reality.
Lucky for me, I proved myself wrong. When I graduated high school, I joined the Marine Corps. Much to my dismay, I ended up getting injurned while I was waiting to go to boot camp and I was discharged from the Marines. When I had finally healed about a year later, rather than pursuing the Marines again, I chose a different route and joined the Army Reserve.
I left for basic training in late January. It was in Fort Sill Oklahoma. I'd never been to Oklahoma before. I knew it was flat there, but I didn't know that it was that flat. The only thing I liked about it were the beautiful sunrises and sunsets. I was always wishing I had my phone for that perfect insta-worthy shot. Basic Training was likely the best experience of my life so far. While it wasn't exactly what I expected, I learned so much there. I learned about the military, I learned about discipline, and I learned about myself.
Joining the military was not only the best decision I ever made for myself, but it was exactly where I fit best. All my life I've been looking for where my piece fits, and that was it. I was finally good at something. The military is my niche.
Is it yours?
If you have questions about the military or the Army specifically, please, do not hesitate to contact me with questions. I am always happy to help. The military isn't for everyone, but it might be for you.
I have a question, so when joining the Army Reserves do you still have to go to the 10 week boot camp? I'm really debating on enlisting in the Army Reserves or going into the Air Force.
